Signposts Along The Way – How It All Began

4 Jan

Over thirty years have passed since No Hungry Hearts For Christmas took place during that miraculous Christmas of 1977. While helping those kids, I realized that something wonderful flowed through me. Full of life and unspeakable joy, I knew it was love.

If you haven’t had a chance to read that story, please click on the link here: No Hungry Hearts For Christmas to be taken there. I think that you will really enjoy it. It also sets the stage for the following series of posts.

As a non-practicing Catholic, I drifted away from church as a child due to my dislike of religion. I always heard my mom and grandma talk of God and sometimes Jesus. Even though I didn’t understand, deep down inside, I’ve always believed in God.

Could that have been God? Was it Him filling those kids’ hearts with joy and allowing them to know that they were cared for and loved? I wasn’t sure then, but over time, I started to realize that God IS love. Initially, I thought I had done everything on my own. But I wasn’t on my own. God was there holding my hand the whole time.

The whole experience awakened my heart causing me to search for more understanding. Through His scriptures, His word became truth to me. It contained all my answers. The result was more than I ever hoped for. I became blessed beyond measure.

Over the next several weeks, I will share with you some personal stories that opened my eyes and allowed me to see that God was in charge of everything. I like to call them: Signposts Along the Way.
